Leo Frederick Matry, 81, passed away on July 27 peacefully in his sleep.  He was the husband of Connie Jo Matry. They shared a beautiful marriage of 45 years. Born and raised in Detroit Michigan, he was the son of George and Mai Matry. He was employed at General Motors and worked as a supervisor. Leo was a dedicated Detroit Lions fan. He was also an avid fisherman, traveling to Minnesota each year for perch and catfish. Many fish fries were enjoyed. Leo loved hunting and woodworking. He made several pieces for his family that will be forever cherished. Above all, Leo loved his family.  There wasn’t a sporting event he missed for his kids and grandkids. He always kept stats and was quick to share the results. He will forever be remembered for his quiet strength and passion for living. His grandkids will remember his famous french toast and being there for each of them anytime they needed him. He is survived by his wife Connie Matry and children, Lee Matry, Keith Matry, Kevin (Wendy) Lynch, Shannan (Troy) McCarter, Chad (Story) Lynch. Grandkids, Brittany, Cory, Emily, Ashlee, Paul, Amy, Michael, Sara, Becca, Gage, Austin and Lane. He was also blessed with 10 great grandkids and his dog, Blaze. He will be missed by several nieces, nephews and in laws, Karen Grubb and Budd (Suzan) Winkler. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, a son Brian Lynch and a grandson Shane Lee. The family will hold a private ceremony.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American diabetes Association.
