Cheryl Lynn (Doggett) Pickett went to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Carle Hospital in Champaign Illinois. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband, two sons, and their wives.

She was born the daughter of the late Joseph Edward Doggett and A. Gail Atwood Doggett on February 14, 1952, in Danville Illinois. Cheryl grew up living in Westville Illinois and attended Westville High School and graduated in 1970. She was the only daughter of four siblings: Steven (Noky) Doggett of Monticello Illinois, Rocky Joe (Jo) Doggett of Westville Illinois, and Mike (Debbie) Doggett of Westville Illinois. They enjoyed spending time together going to the Boat in Evansville, taking trips down south, especially the time, they got to see the Historical Bridge and visiting every Waffle House along the way.

She worked as a bartender for many years in Westville where we are pretty sure she invented jello shots many many years ago for all the world to enjoy. She then worked at the Vermillion County Sheriff’s department as the supervisor of the kitchen at the public safety building where she later retired.

She met her beloved husband Bill on a blind date in 1969. They were high school sweethearts and got married the weekend after Cheryl graduated on June 6th, 1970. They would have been married 50 years this June. In those 50 years, they built a beautiful life together raising their two sons: Bill (Tricia) Pickett of Chrisman Illinois and Bobby (Carol) Pickett of Danville Illinois.

Cheryl loved her grandkids and great-grandkids with her whole heart. As a matter of fact, she loved them mostest. She had 6 grandkids: Kaytlan (Stephen) Jackson, Daltin (Mckenna) Pickett, Dillan Pickett, Melissa Pickett, Addison Pickett, and Paisley Pickett. She had 4 great-great grandkids: Violet Mae Pickett, Ethan Jude Jackson, Sawyer Dean Pickett, and Gemma Louis Jackson. Her grandkids will miss her wonderful cooking, spending the night with her watching scary rawr-rawrs, her hugs and kisses, and all the special phone calls and conversations they shared.

Cheryl had a huge family that loved her very much. She will be greatly missed by all. She spent her life letting her family know just how special they were to her.

A memorial service will be held at the Chrisman Nazarene Church in Chrisman Illinois on February 13th at 4:00 p.m with Reverend Lloyd Simpson officiating.

I am so sad to hear this! I worked with Cheryl at the PSB for a few years. I was the jail nurse there. Cheryl was such a kind woman, with a great sense of humor. God bless her family and may they find peace that Cheryl is at the side of Jesus. The sun has gained a brighter ray to shine upon the Heavens.
