Tamara (Tammy) Sue (Talbott) Hathaway, of Danville, IL born on June 23, 1949, peacefully passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 74. She leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and cherished memories.
Tammy was a dedicated member of the Westville community, where she resided for many years. Despite her long-time residency in Westville, Tammy remained a proud graduate of Danville High School, holding dear the memories and friendships forged during her school years.
For over three decades, Tammy worked at Watson's General Tire in Danville. She enjoyed interacting with coworkers and customers and had many fond memories of her time there.
Tammy’s faith was an integral part of her life, and she served as the Treasurer of the Westville First Church of Christ. She enjoyed her time spent with the Calico Ladies Fellowship Group. Her selfless service and dedication to her church community were exemplary, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
In her leisure time, Tammy found joy in various activities, including bowling, reading, and attending her children's and grandchildren’s events. She also enjoyed card games, checkers, and collecting coins. She had a keen interest in politics, both in the United States and British parliamentary systems, staying informed and engaged in current events. Tammy loved her gadgets and was an avid shopper on the QVC channel, and later, Amazon. With her breadth of knowledge, she was always up for a good debate, no matter the topic.
The light of her life was her family. She is survived by her loving children: Kim Hathaway, Stacey Severado, Brad (Sarah) Hathaway, and Robin Hathaway; grandchildren: Christopher Hathaway, Devin Hathaway, Brendon (Danielle Smith) Severado, Catherine (Robert) Balsamello-Rutledge, Kaleen Severado, Jalen Severado, Duncan (Raylyssa) Hathaway, Grace (Peter) Sobotka, Lane Hathaway, Chance Coss, Christian Walton, and Anastasia Walton; and great-grandchildren Jude Balsamello-Rutledge, Serenity Balsamello-Rutledge, Mars Severado, and Delilah Hathaway. Tammy was eagerly awaiting the arrival of the newest addition to her family legacy, Braylen Severado, who is due in April.
Tammy is also survived by her siblings: John (Jenny Taylor) Talbott, Amber (Cliff) Atwell, Cookie (Ronnie) Thorn, Belinda (Paul) Maxwell, Carla (Jim) Hastings, Maynard Plecker, and many great nieces and nephews.
Tammy was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, John and Rose Talbott, her mother and stepfather, Alberta (Carpenter) and Ralph Maynard Plecker, and her sister Michelle Booher.
A memorial service to celebrate Tammy’s life will be held on March 20, 2024, at the First Church of Christ in Westville. Visitation will be at 2 pm and the service will begin at 3 pm, with a dinner to follow. Donations may be made to the church in Tammy’s memory in lieu of flowers.
