Thomas Cooper Obituary

Thomas G. Cooper, beloved son, husband, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away

on April 15, 2024 peacefully at the age of 69 surrounded by his family at Carle in Urbana. Born

on April 18, 1954 to Lafe M. Cooper Sr and Joy B. Roddy (Themer) in Vancouver, WA and

raised in Oregon. He then moved to Danville Illinois, where he spent the remaining years of his

life, married to Claudia K. (Hansbrough) Cooper who passed away in 2017.

Tom was dearly loved by his mother Joy B. Themer. He was also a devoted father to

Jason (Kim) Sasseen and Kym Brown (passed in 2019). He was a beloved brother to Belinda

Baffa, Lafe Cooper Jr, and Bill Cooper. He was a loving grandfather to Tanner Root, Sophia

Sasseen, Brennan Sasseen, and Kenneth Cooper, along with several great- grandchildren.

Preceded in death Claudia K. Cooper (wife), Lafe M. Cooper Sr. (father), James C. Cooper

(brother), Edward A. Cooper (brother), and Kym Y. Brown (daughter).

Tom dedicated many years driving Danville City Bus, Danville School Bus and driving

truck. Tom’s commitment to driving truck earned him several awards from number one safe

driver, to best worker. Tom enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. From having

cookouts, to riding together in a car, every moment mattered when he was with family. Tom will

be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his passion for driving and his devotion to his

family. His legacy lives on through countless lives he touched and memories he created with

those he loved. Tom’s memory will forever be cherished by his loving family. He will be deeply
