Anne Elizabeth Sawyer

Anne Elizabeth Sawyer, 40, of Danville, Illinois passed away February 7, 2020 at Carle Hospital in Urbana surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born October 1, 1979 in Danville to Margaret Nixon and Brett Tucker.  She married Matt Sawyer of Catlin.

She is preceded in death by her father, Brett Tucker, her paternal grandfather, Joe Tucker, and her maternal grandparents, Bernard and Randalyn Filicsky. She was also preceded in death by uncles Michael and Ted Filicsky and an aunt, Teresa Fugate, as well as many friends.

Anne attended Westville and Danville schools.  She worked most recently as a home health care worker where she enjoyed making the lives of others more comfortable.   Anne’s interests included reading, writing, and spending time in nature.  She was very social and loved being around her many friends.  But most of all, Anne loved her three children with all her heart.  Times with her children and other family members were very special to her. 

She is survived by her children, Ashton and Madalynn Sawyer, and their father, Matt Sawyer of Catlin, and daughter, Mianna Sawyer of Westville.  Also surviving are her mother and stepfather Margaret and Steve Nixon of Danville, brothers Justin (Stephanie) Filicsky of Danville, and Matthew S. (Frances) Filicsky, of Westville, nieces and nephews Zachary and Mila of Westville, and Dylan, Kent and McKenzie of Danville, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as paternal grandmother Shirley Tucker and Aunt Sherrie Joe of Colfax, Iowa. She leaves behind her best friend, Jacque Cole, special friends, April and Kelli, and many other friends who will greatly miss her.  

Services for Anne will be held at Fairview Methodist Church in Georgetown on Saturday, February 15 at 12:00 P.M. with a visitation prior starting at 10:00 A.M.  The Rev. Matthew V. Filicsky will officiate.  Interment will take place at a later date.

The family requests that memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.  The family would also request that you say a prayer for Anne, pray for each other, and pray for God’s mercy and graces for the whole world.
