Bette Rae Pirie, age 84, resident of Catlin, Ill., born April 14, 1936 in Laurens, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020, at home with her daughters, and son at her side.
Surviving are her daughter Brenda (Chris) Hawkins of Manassas, VA., son Brent Pirie of Orlando, Fla.; and daughter-in-law Bonnie Pirie of Catlin, Ill.; and her beloved nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lynn Pirie, her mother, Evelyn Richardson (Dodson – Alpers), father, Melvin Dodson, and stepdad, William Alpers; her son, Brian Pirie; her grandson, Michael Pirie; her sibling, Larry Dodson; and brothers-in-law, David Alpers and Bill Alpers.
Bette Rae was married to her high school sweetheart, Bob, for over 64 years. She grew up on a farm in Iowa before moving to Illinois. She was a leader in “TOPS” as an area captain and area coordinator for over 30 years. She was involved in church leadership in the “ministry of helps” serving in many capacities and as a wedding coordinator for over 30 years.
Bette Rae cultivated a Godly heritage as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, mentor and friend. Her life and legacy, gifts and talents will continue to live on in all the lives she touched.
The Pirie family would like to invite you to a “come and go” visitation and celebration of Bette Rae this Saturday, October 17th, from 2-4pm at the First Assembly 428 N. Walnut Street in Danville, Il.
She will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery, near Oakwood, Illinois at future date.
