Betty Jean Rodriguez died April 4,2026 at the age of 88 surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Chicago to Arthur Venturi and Ruby (Napier) Venturi. She was also blessed with a wonderful stepfather, Nicholas Capwell.
She first married Robert Richards and they had three children, Deborah (Von) Young, Jeffrey Richards and Juli (Roger) Lamm. In 1968 she married the love of her life, Ambrocio Frank Rodriguez, and they were married for 52 years until his passing in 2020. Betty and Frank owned and operated Rodriguez Body Shop in Sidell and Danville until Frank’s retirement. She also worked for DCFS and maintained close friendships with her former co-workers.
Betty loved nothing more than a shopping trip, preferably antiquing. She also enjoyed traveling the world with her children and grandchildren. But the thing she loved most was her family. Even though she was in failing health, her face still lit up when one of her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren called or visited her. And she never failed to tell them how much they were loved.
In addition to her children, Betty leaves grandchildren Von Young III, Robert ( Andrea) Young, Christopher ( Lisa) Young, Dante Ridgeway, Nicholas ( Kaitlin) Brannock, Taylor (AJ) Brannock, John Richards and Celia Richards as well as 12 great grandchildren.
Mom was a devout Christian and a woman of faith, and we are comforted knowing she has been reunited with her heavenly family.
“The temporary has ended. The eternal has just begun.”
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
