Carl William Warfel

Carl William Warfel, age 78, passed away on February 11, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.

Carl was born on March 4, 1946 to parents Eughing and Agatha Warfel in Mattoon, Il. He grew up on a farm south of Greenup, Il. Carl was a graduate of Casey High School in1964. Carl enjoyed tractor pulling for most of his adult life. He started with garden tractors, progressed to antiques, and then diesel tractors. He was a longtime member of the Illinois Tractor Pullers Association. He and Wanda Richardson coordinated the first tractor pull in Ridge Farm in 2007. Carl was a member of the Ridge Farm Church of Christ. He also enjoyed traveling and watching old westerns.

 Carl met his beloved wife, Iris, at Casey High School. They were married in 1965. Carl and Iris would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in May. They have three children, Bill Warfel (Ridge Farm), Brian Warfel (Ridge Farm), and Jennifer Balsamello (Indianapolis). They have four grandchildren, Brent and Melinda Warfel, Peyton Miller, and Ella Warfel. Six great grandchildren Lilly, Lane, and Logan Warfel, Eislee and Ryan Miller, and Danzig Warfel.

Carl never met a stranger. He enjoyed meeting new people. He had a way of putting them at ease when meeting by joking with them. 

Carl owned and operated a used farm machinery business since the 1980’s. He was a well-known member of the community and will be greatly missed by all. 

Funeral services for Carl will be held on Saturday February 15, 2025 at the Church of Christ in Ridge Farm 109 N. State St. Ridge Farm, IL 61870 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation prior to service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ridge Farm.
