Cathy Flannery Obituary

Laid to enteral rest on March 11, 2022, is Cathy Lynn (Boyer) Flannery. Cathy was born on October 26, 1951 in Danville, Illinois to Fred Boyer and Margerie (Jackson) Boyer as their first-born child. Cathy was followed by two brothers Larry Boyer and Fred Boyer along with two sisters, Linda Boyer, and Laura Gilliland. Upon graduation from Danville High School in 1969, Cathy would marry Edward Franklin Flannery, son of Theodore and Gladys (Miller) Flannery on July 19, 1969. By marriage Cathy extended her family by gaining six sisters-in-law, Rita (Martin) Drummond, Judith Flannery, Sharron (Guy) Nanny, Sue Ellen (Edward) Dryer, Nina (Sheridan) Underwood, and Angel (Danny) Turner. After marriage, Cathy would eventually land her family as long-life residents in Fithian, Illinois. Cathy and Ed named their two sons, Scott Edward (Kara) Flannery, born November 14, 1970, now residing in Mt. Zion, Illinois and Neil Steven (Melisa) Flannery, born June 28, 1974, now residing in the Bismarck Illinois area. Cathy lived and loved her life to the fullest. Cathy was never selfish by always putting her friends and her family first and foremost before she would put herself. Cathy enjoyed watching her sons grow and making her a grandmother which she loved the most. Throughout Cathy’s years she showed her support to her sons and to husband no matter what the event may have been. Cathy worked in the Athletic Department at Danville High School being a strong backbone of Danville High School Football. Once Cathy retired in 2012 from District #118, Cathy began to experience life the way she wanted by traveling abroad going on multiple cruises, visiting places she always wished to, and sightseeing numerous landmarks across the United States. In Cathy’s travels she fulfilled her longtime bucket-list of visiting Ireland with her husband. Later in life Cathy respected her love of nature and peacefulness by relaxing in her rocking chair on the porch. Cathy loved enjoying the breeze, listing to her wind chimes, seeing her cats frolic about and watching the squirrels eat the nuts that she faithfully provided for them all while admiring her flower garden for which she loved. Cathy is survived by her number one supporter and lifelong loving husband. Cathy leaves her legacy to her oldest son Scott, who blessed Cathy with two granddaughters, Grace Erin (20) and Addison Grace (13) and her youngest son Neil, who blessed Cathy with two granddaughters, Katie Jo (21) and Karmen Elizabeth (18). Cathy was later blessed with an extended family of two step-grandsons, Zachary Diskey (22) and Kaden Lappin (20) along with one step-granddaughter, Kacie Lappin (18), all three who she loved as her own. Cathy will forever be missed amongst her family and friends who will cherish all of what Cathy unselfishly gave to all.
