Christopher Darrell Brown

Christopher Darrell Brown, 46, of Westville, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born July 21, 1979, in Champaign, IL, to Darrell Eugene and Susan Kay (Kondracki) Brown.

A devoted single father, Chris’s life revolved around his children. He took immense pride in Ethan and Claire’s accomplishments, and he was confident they would achieve great success.

Chris began his career at thyssenkrupp Dynamic Components in Danville, IL, in February 2003. Over the next two decades, he dedicated himself to his work, most recently serving as an IT Systems Engineer. Beyond his career, Chris enjoyed watching movies and annual vacations with his children, gaming, golf and he was an excellent cook.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Brown.

Chris is survived by his children, Ethan and Claire Brown of Westville, IL; mother, Susan Chernauskas of Bloomington, IL; two sisters, Jen (Dan) Wardrip of Bloomington, IL and Leslie (Kevin Tyler) Miller of Hoopeston, IL; nieces and nephews, Nick, Hannah, Riley, and Gavyn; his children’s “Memaw”, Sherry Overcast; and his purr pal, Chewie.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial in his name may be made to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter, where he adopted Chewie. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
