D. Dale Ramert, 82, of Danville, IL, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the Villas of Holly Brook. He was born on December 22, 1943, in Paris, IL, to Roy Lowell and Dorothy Louise (Bonwell) Ramert.
Dale married the love of his life, Peggy Swartz, on June 2, 1973, at the Wellington United Methodist Church, and they spent 52 loving years together. He attended the Friends Church in Chrisman, St. James United Methodist Church, and later the Wellington United Methodist Church. Dale was a 32nd Degree Mason at Lodge #980. He worked for the Boilermakers Union - Chicago Bridge and Iron, Ironworker, Local 380 in Urbana, IL, and C & V Erectors.
Dale was a misplaced cowboy. He loved horses and horseback riding and owned several horses throughout his lifetime. In his younger years, he was passionate about raising his colts and eventually finding them loving homes. He enjoyed spending time with his son, Dale Allen, beekeeper, and especially loved the honey that was produced. Dale and his wife, Peggy, would travel around to attend rodeos and would spend time together watching westerns, especially Dale’s favorite actor, John Wayne. When he wasn’t busy drinking his signature drink, black Folgers coffee, NO cream, Dale could be found spending time with his close special friends and the most recent love of his life, his beloved dog, Gidget. He also found himself enthusiastic about dog training. Forever the outdoorsman, Dale enjoyed guns and hunting, mostly small game like quail and pheasants. He enjoyed boating on Lake Vermilion. He will always be missed and always be loved.
Dale is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Ramert of Danville, IL; son, Dale Allen Ramert of Thomasboro, IL; brother, Donald E. (Sue) Ramert; nephews, Jason (Anne Matthews) Ramert and Justin (Jamie) Ramert; great nieces and nephews, Morgan and Logan Ramert and Bridget and Jacob Ramert.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston, IL, Pastor Kathy Murphy officiating.
