Daniel Francis Duncheon

Daniel Francis Duncheon, 69, of Tilton passed away at home surrounded by the people and pets he loved most. A few hours later, his 4 month old blind kitten couldn't bear to live without him and passed away also. Dan was born to Francis Anthony and Lela Mae Duncheon on September 20th 1955. He is survived by his wife Jody and their three children, Britni, Jacob, and Christofer, all of Tilton. Also surviving are his brothers Michael (Joan Cassman) of CA and Patrick (Donna) of FL. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Bob Duncheon.

Dan attended St. Patrick Grade School, was a 1972 graduate of Schlarman High School, and started Notre Dame at age 16 where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in 1976. Dan and his wife enjoyed being small business owners including Fast Funds, Affordable Gifts, and Kidz Kloset leading to many friendships. Later, he worked as a Pro Sales Specialist at Lowe's and then managed the Habitat for Humanity until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus council 754 and he and Jody were both members of Holy Family Catholic Church.  Dan proudly served on both the Vermilion County Board and was a Ward 2 Alderman on the city council. After his retirement he built a catwalk at his daughters house which led to him building a catwalk for the freer roam cat room at the Vermilion County Animal Shelter. Through that, he discovered that leukemia cats have a short lifespan and are overlooked by adoptees he remodeled his garage adding air, heat and a window to an outdoor catio where they can spend their short time enjoying fresh air, sunshine, bird and squirrel watching.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 9th, at O'Brien's Corner Tavern, 800 East Main St. Danville IL at 2pm.
