David Van Cole

David Van Cole, 72, of Watseka, Illinois, went to meet his Lord on Friday, August 4, 2023, surrounded by family at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois. David was born March 10, 1951, in Decatur, Illinois. He was the son of Robert and Dorothy Cole of Hammond, Illinois. David is survived by a daughter, Jamie (Denver) Piatt of Paxton, Illinois, his grandchildren, Elli Brooks of Canton, Illinois, Courtney Piatt of Loda, Illinois, Daiton Piatt of Champaign, Illinois, Kylie Piatt of Paxton, Illinois, and Katie Piatt of Paxton, Illinois. He is also survived by a brother, Dan (Betty) Cole of LaPlace, Illinois, and his two nieces Susan (Curt) Harshbarger of Atwood, Illinois and Michelle Steele of Garrett, Illinois.

David retired from Caterpillar and the Army National Guard. He also worked in construction and drove a truck. Dave enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Memorials can be made to any small-town charity of the donor's choice.

Graveside Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Randolph Township Cemetery north of Heyworth, Illinois. Pastor Jim Harkins will officiate.
