David O. Thornsbrough

David Thornsbrough, 92, of Alvin, passed away at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Accolade Healthcare Danville. He was born March 30, 1930 in Alvin, IL the son of Ennis and Evelyn (Hughes) Thornsbrough. He married Carolyn Noone July 31, 1955 at St. James United Methodist Church in Danville, she survives. Also surviving are three sons, John (Katy) Thornsbrough of Rossville, Scott (Julie) Thornsbrough of Alvin and Bruce (Jennifer) Thornsbrough of West Lebanon, IN, a son-in-law, Kevin Andrews, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a sister, June Cain of Pittsboro, IN. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Andrews, three brothers and two sisters. David was a graduate of Alvin High School. He was a farmer. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. David was a lifelong member of Alvin Christian Church where he was an Elder. He volunteered as a Red Vest at OSF in Danville and the Vermilion County War Museum. He served on the Rossville School Board. He put flags on Veteran’s graves at Resurrection Cemetery every Memorial Day. He enjoyed reading and loved history.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11 at Alvin Christian Church with Jason Schimke officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck with Military Honors by American Legion Post 210. Memorial may be made to Alvin Christian Church. Online condolences: www.rortvedtfuneralservices.com.
