Donald M Powell

Donald M. Powell, 74, of Oakwood, IL died Friday, August 6, 2021, peacefully at home with his baby boy Hershey (dog) laying with him.

Don was born August 27, 1946, in Lakeview Hospital to Ferman and Dorothy Powell.

He graduated from Danville High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He worked at the U of I Student Union Hall.

Don married Terri Powell on August 28, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Terri; son, Donnie Powell of Veedersburg, IN; daughter, Dawn Arnette (Ricky) of Tilton, IL; daughter, Debbie Decker of Glen Burnie, MD; son, Mark Powell; daughter, Andrea Reed (JC) of Oakwood, IL; and stepdaughter, Joie of Oakwood, IL.

He is also survived by a sister, a stepsister, two brothers, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his aunt Gyneth Yerkes.

Don enjoyed gardening, canning, bee keeping and fishing. He was an avid Colts, Purdue, and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed watching old westerns and Molly B. Polka Party. He enjoyed spending time and spoiling his baby boy Hershey (dog).
