Douglas (Doug) Wayne George, 65, of Tilton, IL passed away on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024. He was the son of Dwight George and Bonnie (Nigra) George.
Doug was a 1977 graduate of Danville High School. He spent much of his professional career working as a very talented meat cutter throughout the Danville, IL area. Doug was passionate about his craft, often taking the time to explain to customers about the particular nuances with each cut of meat.
Doug’s joys in life were that of a simple man. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, cook, forage for mushrooms, and garden. He would often make remarks that if anything ever happened in this world, that he would be prepared to survive off the land. Doug’s greatest quality was that he never met a stranger and chose to embrace everyone with open arms and a sincere conversation. Everyone always knew that if you stopped by his house, the charcoal would be hot, the fridge would be full, and the fellowship would be plentiful.
Doug is survived by his two children, Jennifer and Dwight; his four sisters Gina, Brenda, Beth, and Carrie; his uncle Jim Nigra; his three beautiful granddaughters Journey May, Justice Fay, and Lylah Kayann; along with his special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dwight (Dike) George.
Please join us memorializing Doug by taking a moment outside doing something that brings you joy.
