Douglas "Doug" Goff Obituary

Douglas “Doug” Kent Goff, 55, of Danville, Illinois passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 24th, 2025. He was born January 7th, 1970, in Danville, IL to Jimmy “Jim” and Judy (Davis) Goff. He was a graduate of Danville High School and Danville Area Community College.

Doug started employment at an early age by working at the family business, Goff Rug Company. His extensive knowledge of floor covering, as well as his outgoing personality, led to a career as a Sales Rep in flooring distribution. His first job took him to Chicago to work at FlorStar Distribution. He held various sales positions in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Missouri. After working as a Sales Rep, Doug then transitioned to retail sales in flooring, joining the teams at Lowes and Home Depot. He was recognized often for his sales achievements. One being the only salesman, at the time, to reach one million dollars in sales (at Lowe’s) in the state of Illinois. As of late, Doug has offered personal transportation services to many local clients in the Danville and Champaign area.

In his youth, Doug played Little League Baseball and was on the high school tennis team; but he found his passion in bowling. Doug established the Pepsi Youth Bowling Tournament which was successful for many years. This passion also led to travel all over the United States with his doubles partner and good friend of over 20 yrs, Rick Harrelson; as well as a sponsored tournament to New Zealand and Australia. As an accomplished bowler, Doug became the Regional Director of IGBO for North American Heartland. He raised funds for the TGIF Classic for many years; and through these fundraisers, Doug became known to his friends in the IGBO bowling community as “Ruby Slippers”.

When Doug wasn’t bowling, he was advocating for changes in the law regarding criminal sexual assault. In 2016 Doug testified at the Illinois State Legislature to change the statute of limitations for Criminal Sexual Assault of a victim under the age of 18. This amendment was passed on August 11th, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen and Betty (Quick) Goff; and Harold and Evelyn (Maher) Davis; uncle, Randy Goff; and aunt, Diane (Goff) Brozio.

Doug is survived by his parents, Jim & Judy Goff; sister, Courtney (Casey) Camp; nephew, Bryce (Skyler) Camp; niece, Lexi Camp; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and his beloved dogs, Cash and Archie.
