Elaine Beeson Obituary

Elaine Margaret Rennert Beeson, 92, of Danville, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026.

Elaine was born on July 1, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio to William and Margaret (Yurick) Rennert.  She grew up in Parma, Ohio, the big sister to Claudia, Dave, and Al, and graduated from Parma Schaaf High School in 1951.  She moved with her parents to Decatur, Illinois, where she graduated from Decatur-Macon County School of Nursing in 1954, followed by postgraduate training at Chicago Lying-In Hospital.

Elaine worked as an obstetrics nurse for St. Elizabeth Hospital for 20 years.  Though demanding, she found the work deeply rewarding and formed many lasting friendships.  She later worked at the Vermillion County Health Department before retiring.  Elaine continued her lifelong commitment to nursing, receiving the Danville Volunteer of the Year award for her work at Community Health and Wellness at Aunt Martha’s.  Elaine was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for over 65 years.

Elaine said she married “the best man in the whole world” when she wed Gene Beeson in 1957.  Together they made their home in Danville and raised six children: Cindy (Steve) Smith; Susan (David) Barnes; Mary (Howie) Montgerard; all of Danville, Virginia (Derek) Snell of Indianapolis; and David (Gina Ave Macintyre) Beeson of Crown Point, Indiana.  A daughter, Laura, preceded in death.

Elaine is also survived by her grandchildren: Aimee (Brian Goldfine) Frank; Caroline Barnes; Ethan Barnes; Melanie Snell; Joseph Beeson; Paul Beeson; and great-grandson, Julian Goldfine.

Elaine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She could be counted on to lend a hand and be a comfort to those who sought her aide.  She took great care to ensure birthdays and holidays were always celebrated and found joy in simple pleasures - spending time with her dogs, going out to lunch with family and friends, aquasize, letters to her sister, phone calls with her sister-in-law, Ilah, and tending her tomato garden.

Visitation will be at 11:00am with a funeral mass at 12:00pm on Tuesday, February 3 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville, with Father Loftus officiating.  Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery following services.  Memorials can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or the Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.  Rortvedt Funeral Services is assisting the family.
