Evelyn Combest, 94, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at 7:28 P.M. Paxton. According to her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Due to current health concerns a private graveside service was held December 12, 2020, at Maplewood Cemetery, in Rantoul. Rev. Ruth Bensyl officiated.
She was born March 24, 1926, in Compromise, the daughter of George and Bernice Livingston. Evelyn lived most of her life in the Rantoul area, where she met and married Carl Combest on March 24, 1942. He preceded her in death. Others who preceded her in death were her son, Charles Combest, daughter-in-law, Elva Combest, brother, William Dale Livingston and sister, Pauline Combest.
Surviving are her children, Paul Combest, of Hope, Ruth Bensyl (Charles) of Ogden and Nancy Morgan (Mark) of Bartlett, daughter-in-law Susan Combest of Rantoul, and sister, Ruth Wilson of Rantoul, along with 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, cooking, crocheting, painting and sewing. She and her husband owned and operated Combest Moving and Storage in Rantoul.
Evelyn had lived at Eagle’s View Supported Living and Memory Care for the past three years. She was a member of the Ogden Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in her name to the Ogden Church of the Nazarene or The Alzheimer’s Association.
