Floyd David “Dave” Shepherd, 79, of Danville passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Haven of Paris Nursing Home. Dave was born May 21, 1946, in Central City, Kentucky to Floyd and Patricia Shepherd of Catlin. He met his current wife in 1967 and married her in 1970.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Verhoeven Shepherd; son, Michael Shepherd (JoAnn) of Missouri; daughter, Melissa Shepherd of Oakwood; brother, Kevin (Janice) Shepherd of Catlin; adopted brother, John Bill Shepherd (Kay) of Danville; grandchildren, Crystal and Brooke Shepherd of Missouri, Codie Shepherd of Danville, and Noah Shepherd of Rossville; two great grandchildren, Korbyn Shepherd of Oakwood and Emily Shepherd of Missouri; and his dear friends from Gillespie Lake, Terry Pichon, Larry Sisson, and Larry Morris.
Dave led a full and rewarding life. He was in the Navy and lived in California for 25 years where he met many, many great friends. He traveled from California to Tijuana to Vancouver on a Gold Wing with his wife, went to dozens and dozens of motorcycle rallies, bear hunting in Alaska, wild boar hunting in Texas, traveled to Wyoming to help his brother-in-law, Loral when he was ill and countless other “adventures”. Dave was also an avid fisherman. He loved his family and friends and was a very social person.
The family would like to thank the staff at BroMenn Carle in Bloomington and Haven of Paris Nursing Home for providing such excellent care and Rortvedt Crematory for their support during this trying time. A special thanks to his friends at Gillespie Lake, Larry Sisson and Terry Pichon for their support over the years.
