Frank Vernon Gaines

Frank Vernon Gaines, 61, of Fithian, passed away at 12:47 p.m. Monday, December 12, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born January 23, 1961 in Champaign, Illinois to Earl Jr. and Claribell M. (Mahon) Gaines. He married Cindy Lou Valentine May 15, 1992 in Urbana. She preceded him in death August 18, 2021. He is survived by his mother, Claribell (Gaines) Irvin, two brothers, Vic (Joy) Gaines of Minnesota and John Gaines of Urbana two sisters, Gloria Cline of Phoenix, Arizona and Denise (Chuck) Chesnut of Ogden, a stepdaughter, Dawn (Tom) Stumborg of Champaign. He is also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer, and his father, Earl Gaines, Jr.

Frank started working at the University of Illinois in 1980. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.

Graveside services for Frank will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Mount Olive Cemetery in Mayview, Illinois with Pastor Brandon Tipsword officiating. Online condolences: www.rortvedtfuneralservices.com.
