Freeman Edward Morris, 78, passed away on September 23, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Danville, IL where he had resided for several years.
Freeman was born on January 21, 1943, in Marshal Harrison, TX. He was one of seven children born to Theo Morris Sr. and Ruth Ada (Tipitchford) Morris.
Freeman served his country in the United State Marine Corps from 1963 to 1971. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Freeman received the Presidential Unit Citation, a Combat Action Ribbon, Gallantry Cross and other recognitions during his service.
Freeman married Willie Mae Byrd and they had a son, Freeman Eugene Morris of Brighton, CO. Freeman later married Emma Snow and they had two children: Darryl L. Morris and Michelle D. Morris, both of Springfield, IL. Freeman then married Wilma Turner. Freeman’s children survive him.
Freeman was proceeded in death by his parents and his siblings, Theo Morris Jr., Lynn Morris, Milton Morris, Roger Morris, Jane Woodson and Ruth Morris.
A private burial will be in the Danville National Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 210.
