Goldie Rue Kirby, 92, of Paxton, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Paxton. She was born February 27, 1923 in Kentucky a daughter of Lloyd and Nealie (Rowland) Parks. She married Harold “Kink” Kirby May 8, 1942 in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death January 28, 1985. She is survived by two daughters, Karna (Arthur “Ted”) Forsyth of Newburgh, IN and Mary (Richard “Dick”) Clark of Westville, 4 grandchildren, Todd Benting, Tim (Susan) Forsyth, Joshua (Kelsy) Clark and Laura (Eric) Boggess and five great-grandchildren, Zakk Forsyth, Daulton Boggess, Wade Clark, McKenzie Boggess and Grant Clark. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Buford Parks and a grandson, Bryan Benting. Goldie was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Ford County. She was known for impersonating Minnie Pearl for nursing homes and senior citizen groups. She enjoyed country music.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Gail Meyers officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Paxton. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made in her memory to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
