Harold Edwin “Ed” Houtzel passed away on 11-13-20 at the age of 72. He was a Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War. Ed’s family would encourage everyone to reach out to those touched by mental health challenges. Survivors of domestic violence, you are not alone. Abusers, stop and seek help. Spouses, you are not at fault. Children, you CAN break the cycle, passers-by, if you see something, say something. Veterans and their families, thank you for your sacrifices. If you see a veteran in need, reach out. They deserve our respect and gratitude. Thank you to Mike Coleman and Carl Brazil for reaching out to this veteran. A special thank you to the staff at the VA Illiana Healthcare System of Danville, we sincerely appreciate the care you provided, especially risking your own health for the health of others. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to a women’s shelter or reach out to assist a veteran and their family. Private burial is pending at the Danville National Cemetery. No other services due to covid.
