James (Jim) B. Cornett, 95, of Georgetown, passed away 3/2/2022 at home; born December 17, 1926, in Danville, son of James B. and Ersula Cornett both deceased.  He was preceded in death by his 2 daughters, Karen (Carl) Roper of Franklin, NC; and Karla (Mike) Stanis of Georgetown, his sisters, Madeline Skoog, Belva Ray, and Greta Ludwig.

 Surviving is his beloved Alice, his son James (Mindy) of Oakwood, 7 grandchildren, Karla (Roper), Travis Roper, Jessica Stanis, Catrina Stanis, Frankie Stanis, James Cornett of Florida, Alyssa Cornett of Oakwood and 9 great grandchildren.  Also surviving him, his sister Estella (Paul) Paskewitz.

Jim loved his family very much, and other ones he considered his family, Tim (Tracy) Cross (Shala), Eddie Cross (Gage), Teresa (Danny) Cooper, Justin (Nina) Hoskins (Kristin and Ryan).

Jim was a graduate of Danville High School and served in the Navy during World War II.  He loved Chicago Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and Fighting Illini.  He worked in management positions at J.L. Jacobs & Magnavox Company.

Jim later owned and operated, with his beloved and best friend Alice, The Silver Dollar Tavern, The Silver Dollar Motor Inn, in Westville and The Ridge in Ridgefarm.

Jim requested his body be cremated and no funeral service except for a small celebration of his life at a later date. Online condolences: www.rortvedtfuneralservices.com.
