James Melvin Grubb, 80, of Danville, passed away at 12:11 a.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital. James was born January 15, 1940 to Lawrence and Eva (Tuggle) Grubb in Indianola, Illinois. James will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Grubb whom he married August 16, 1958. She survives along with sons; Jim (Karen Bennett) Grubb, Jeff (Dee) Grubb, a daughter; Jill (Kerry) Cranmore, grandchildren; Angela (Kelly) Morris, Adam (Cassie) Grubb, Cody Cranmore, Kacey (Daniel) Bowen, Laura (Joshua) Swallow, Harley (Brandi) Grubb and Sarah Grubb, great grandchildren; Christine, Isabelle, Madelynn, Bella, Levi, Sammy, Ellie and Gavin, sisters; June Bannon and Laverne Bartlow and brother William Grubb. James was preceded in death by a grandson, Lee Grubb.
Jim retired from Bulkmatic Transport as owner/operator. He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast. He loved riding his Harley-Davidsons, hill climbing and motocross racing. He was an avid Grand National flat track race fan. Jim was known for his practical jokes and storytelling. He enjoyed spending time with family and his dog Jesse James.
There will be a private graveside service held for Jim with Pastor Brett Karanovich officiating and Jim will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park.
The family would like to give special recognition and thank you to the nurses in the ICU department at O.S.F. Sacred Heart Medical Center and Carle hospital.
