Jeffrey Lynn Galey, affectionately known as Jeff, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on June 20, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on July 4, 1959, in Danville, Illinois, Jeff brought his unique spark and generous heart into every room he entered.
A true jack of all trades, Jeff had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything and saw potential in what others might throw away. He was especially passionate about building ponds and landscaping, and his talent for transforming outdoor spaces into something beautiful was nothing short of amazing.
Jeff’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Chasity (Wayne Sandlin) Galey, and Brittanie (Marco VanCamp) Galey; and his cherished grandchildren, Aiden Galey, Aubriella Hill, Ryleigh Gonzales, and Vanessa VanCamp. He also shared a close and lifelong bond with his brother, Mike Galey.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Galey; mother, Roberta Galey; and sister, Sue.
Whether he was cheering on his grandchildren at softball games, enjoying fairs and demolition derbies, riding ATVs, or just relaxing at a family cookout, Jeff was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. He also had a legendary knack for buying and selling cars—rarely keeping one for more than a couple of months, always on the hunt for the next good deal.
Jeff's legacy of creativity, humor, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
