Jeffrey Meeker Obituary

Jeffrey Alan Meeker, 67, of Danville, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at home. He was born August 13, 1957 in Danville to Orville and Shirley Meeker. He is survived by his wife, Sandra and children, Jay, Samantha (Justin Calvin), Mickey (Sarah Barrett),and Dylan (Delanie Robinson), grandchildren, Jasmyn, Lily, Noah, Scarlett, Marigold, Violet, Vivian, and Maddox who were the light of his life as well as siblings, Sherril Halftown and Terry Meeker. He is preceded in death by his father, Orville Meeker, mother, Shirley Meeker, brother, Douglas Meeker and daughter-in-law, Mary Meeker.

Jeff went to Danville High School and was very proficient in athletics, lettering in three different sports. He was highly recruited by many collegiate programs. He moved to Arizona around 1985 where he met his wife, Sandy, in 1986. He was union carpenter until his first battle with cancer pushed him into an early retirement in 2009. Jeff was very passionate about coaching little league sports with not only his own children but many children in the community. Helping them not only develop their athletic abilities but also work ethic, discipline and character. Jeff was also very passionate about music. He loved going to concerts with friends and family. Anyone who attended these concerts with him will tell you how much fun he was to be around. He had a knack for finding talented new acts in the surrounding areas to perform at Fuzzy’s Bar, the family business formed in 2013. Without Jeff, Fuzzy’s Bar would have never become the hub for good times and forming friendships that it is today. He touched the lives of many and was adored by all. Truly a friend that was cherished by everyone he spent time with there. As good of a friend he was, he was an even better husband, father and grandfather. Words cannot describe how much his family loved him and how greatly he will be missed.

Jeff, Sandy, and the family wanted to be sure to give a special thank you to Dr Labayog and the staff at OSF Cancer Care Center for giving us the extra years we were able to enjoy with him.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 8th at the Gao Grotto from 2pm to 5pm.
