John "Mike" Barkman

John "Mike" Barkman, 72, of Danville passed away peacefully at 4:35 a.m. on Monday August 24, 2020, at OSF Sacred Heart Emergency Department.
He was born Nov. 29, 1947, the son of John and Kathleen (Olson) Barkman.
He is survived by his daughter, Hilleary (Keith) Rudolph and three grandsons, Andy, Brendan, Brock; four sisters, Carla Dake, Priscila (Neil) Phelps, Emily Hiten, Lisa (Bret) Knight and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eric; and two brothers-in-law, Tony Dake and Randy Hiten.
Mike graduated from Danville High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following this service, Mike worked at General Motors until its closing.
Mike was a huge Cubs and Bears fan, as well as Illini football and basketball fan. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing baseball, bowling and going fishing.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Colonial Manor Nursing Home for the excellent care they gave Mike these last four years.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
