John Alan Stevens, 60, of Danville, passed away on March 11, 2022 at OSF Medical Center. He was born on October 21,1961 in St. Joseph, MI, the son of Miles Stevens and Anna Kobylak Stevens.
John was a part of Carpenters Local 243 for 30 years. An avid lover of the outdoors, he could regularly be found hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, or simply napping in the sun. Weekend gatherings for Packers or Cubs games brought John and his "homies" together for fried fish, laughter, and endless memories. He was always willing to help, never stopping to ask, "What's in it for me?"
John is survived by his two sons, Jarrett Stevens of Champaign and Ryan Stevens of Danville, two brothers, Gene Stevens and Jim (Sandy) Stevens of Nashville TN, and two sisters, Lori (Casey) Radabaugh of Indianapolis IN and Judi (Todd) Constans of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Miles Jr.
He was very lucky to be surrounded by big-hearted friends. To those who stood by him in his hardest times, we thank you. While he may not have said it out loud, he confided his love and appreciation for you to his sons. Special thanks include Otto Collins, Hopper White, Dave Pierson, Matt Cash, Jim Campbell, and, though they have preceded him in death, Ronnie Perkins and Charlie Boswell.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 15, from 1p-4p at Sarge's Tap.
