Joseph Bednar Jr. Obituary

Joseph Bednar Jr, 57, of Westville, Illinois went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 30th, 2025, surrounded by his family. Joe was born in Danville on May 5th, 1968, to the most loving parents, Joseph and Martha Bednar, who preceded and surely welcomed him into Heaven. Joe was a devoted father to Emily (Jacob) Thompson and Hailey Bednar, though his greatest treasures were his grandchildren, Bentley Bednar, Meila Thompson, Aubree Thompson, and Jayce Bednar.  He never missed a chance to talk about them or share their latest adventures. Joe was engaged to the love of his life, Angela “Angie” Huffman, who faithfully loved and kindly cared for him.

Joe worked as a yard spotter and took great pride in his work.  Outside of work, he found peace and happiness in nature.  Whether hunting for deer or reeling in a fish on the line, Joe felt closest to God in those quiet, simple moments outdoors.

Sundays were Joe’s favorite day. He was a faithful member of Midwest Believer’s Church in Champaign, and he greatly enjoyed worshipping and learning about God alongside Angie, his children, and grandchildren.  Joe’s strong faith gave him hope and comfort through every season of life.

Joe is survived by Angie, his children and grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Jayne (Brian) Ocker, and Leslie Bednar, along with many friends and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.

A celebration of life will be held at Midwest Believers Church, 1802 S Duncan, Champaign, on January 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to come share memories, laughter, and love as we honor a wonderful man who touched so many hearts.

Joe will be remembered for his kindness, faith, and the way he always made those around him feel loved.  Though deeply missed, his spirit will live on through the family and friends who loved him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midwest Believers Church.
