Joseph Vecellio Obituary


 Joseph AH Vecellio, 88 of Westville, IL passed away on January 3rd, 2021.
  Joe was born on June 6th 1932 to Joseph and Alice Vecellio in Westville, IL. He was one of 15 children.
  At the age of 18 Joe enlisted in the United States Navy to fight the Korean war. While in service he received the United Nations service ribbon, Korean service ribbon (two stars), good conduct medal and national defense service ribbon.  Joe served with honor and distinction until he was honorably discharged after 4 years of service.
  Joe enjoyed being active by swimming, riding his bicycle and spending time with friends and family. He never stopped learning.  Joe was a voracious reader, interested in many subjects. He was extremely health-conscious, staying fit and active his entire life. Joe was a lover of old movies and music. He enjoyed going to the riverboat with his many friends. He was a family man, spending as much time with them as possible.
  Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alice Vecellio of Westville, IL, and seven siblings, Johnny, Frank, Alice Dolly, Bob, George and Charlie.
  Joe is survived by seven siblings, Ted, Hank, Kay, Ronnie, Genie, David and Nita, three sons Tony (Patty) Vecellio of Danville, IL, Joey (Trish) Vecellio of Barefoot Bay, FL and Nicky (Arlene) Vecellio of Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Nicole and Tony of Danville Illinois, Nick, McKenzie and Nolan of Rock Hill SC, and Luke of Westville, IL and three great-grandchildren, Lexi Gray and Khali Swick of Danville, IL and Ava Saunders of Westville, IL.  Also surviving Joe are many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Theresa Martinez of Monaca, PA.
  Per his request he was cremated at Rortvedt Funeral Services and Crematory in Tilton, IL and military rights are to be held at the VA in Danville, IL at a later date.
