Joseph Buyno Sr., 79, of Georgetown, Illinois passed away August 26, 2025, at 8:45 a.m. at his home. He was born on July 9, 1946, to Joe and Veronica Buyno.
Joe and Veronica lived just west of the Georgetown area and had 12 children; Joe was the third oldest. Joe helped work on his dad’s farm, then later worked at Bohn Aluminum in Danville, IL. He later married Brenda Johnson on August 16, 1973, and they resided just south of Ridge Farm where they made their home as well as tending to their cattle and hogs. Joe and his brother, John, also worked for La Salette Farm in Olivet, IL. In 1986, Joe and Brenda divorced, and he raised all six kids by himself. He got out of the cattle business and just kept the hog business going once La Salette Farm was sold.
He went on to raise his six kids, whom he loved very much. Joe always tried to help those that were less fortunate, whether it was donating a hog to them or hiring them for work on the farm. He always said to give a hand to others when in need when you can as you may need help too one day. He later moved back to Georgetown to live in his grandmother Bobba’s house. He retired from having hogs and started working on taking his John Deere 730 apart to have it all restored. He never got it completely put back together but passed it on to his oldest grandson.
Joe enjoyed attending demo derbies in the early years until he attended his first racetrack in Boswell, IN. After that first night he was hooked. He would go every weekend and always told his kids that they wouldn’t miss going to church on Sunday’s where he attended St. Issac Jogues Church in Georgetown, IL. Joe enjoyed going to church and seeing his mother, Veronica and aunt, Julie, then having brunch with them every Sunday at CSQ in Georgetown, IL along with his kids. Later in his years going to the races every weekend was his passion as he was able to watch his three sons and two son-in-laws race weekly. He also loved to watch NASCAR on Sundays; his favorite driver was Jimmie Johnson. Joe also enjoyed attending Chrisman Cardinals Basketball games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Veronica (Lesko) Buyno; brother, John Buyno; daughter, Felisha (Buyno) Hall; son-in-law, Lee J. Hall; and granddaughter, Madison Hall.
Joe is survived by his 6 children, Joe (Brittany) Buyno Jr. of Ridge Farm, Illinois, Jonah (Amanda) Buyno of Danville, Illinois, James (Alexis) Buyno of Clinton, Indiana, Julie (David) Ortiz of Danville, Illinois and Andrea (Jerrad) Krick of Earl Park, Indiana; 14 grandchildren, Lee Joseph, Mykenzie, Joseph, Kamden, Easton, Hailey, Emily, Kinslee, Greyson, Dennsleigh, Tenley, Brody, Maddison, Maddux and Jaxson; and 2 great grandkids, Willow and Waylon J.; and siblings, Mary St. Pierre, Raymond Buyno, Phillip Buyno, Jerome Buyno, Theresa Corbin, Veronica Filicsky, Michael Buyno, Anna Shonk, Paul Buyno & Andrew Buyno.
Per Joe’s wishes there will be no services.
