Joseph "Scott" Wright Obituary

Joseph Scott Wright, 60, of Georgetown, passed away at 12:03 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Paris Healthcare in Paris, Illinois. He was born April 27, 1963, to Janet and Joseph Wright. Scott attended Catlin schools where he received various awards for basketball.

Scott joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in California where he worked in the undercover drug unit. After completing his military service, he worked for the Illinois Dept of Corrections in Danville. In 1989 Scott became a Deputy Sheriff for the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department. Scott and another Deputy were responsible for starting the canine program for the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department. Scott retired in 2002 due to ill health.

Scott married Mary Robertson on February 14,1991; she survives.

Also surviving are four children Christopher Wright, of St Joseph, Matthew (Tonya) Jordan, of Juneau, Alaska, Mikael (Kim) Jordan, of Bloomington, IL, Amanda (Richard) Ellis of Mason Michigan, a brother, Timothy Wright of Champaign and nine grandchildren, Candice Wright, Tyler Wright, Katie (Cruz) Verdugo, Jacob Jordan, Alexandria Jordan, Kaleb Jordan, Shaun Weaver, Alex Edenburn, Mason Ellis, and 2 great grandchildren; his sister in law, Candace Robertson and his mother and father in law, Harvey and Lynn Robertson.

Scott was preceded in death by his son Nicohlas and his father Joseph and his mother Janet.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2023 at Danville National Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 210. Sam Stowe will officiate. Online condolences: www rortvedtfuneralservices.com
