Joshua Patrick Johnson

Joshua Patrick Johnson, 50, of Danville, Illinois passed this life and joined his loving Savior at 7:49 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at his home. Joshua was born on August 11, 1969 at Lakeview Hospital, to Patricia Joan Johnson and Walter Ivan Johnson. He was last born to a family of 9 brothers and sisters. Joshua attended both Lincoln and Daniel Elementary Schools and then onto middle school and then graduated from DHS. He began working in local restaurants; Skelly’s, Ritzy’s, along with others, then turned to factory work for a short time. He then decided he would try nursing and received his CNA certification through DACC. He worked at Danville Care, Vermilion Manor and at VA in Danville. Crippling arthritis took his ability to walk and he was out of the work force. He later had bi- lateral hip replacements and was able to return to work for a short time. Joshua had a great love for collecting antiques. Coins, bottles, furniture, pictures, books and dishware. His great love was for history of Abraham Lincoln. He has accumulated a large collection of Lincoln books and memorabilia. He was very adept at all things Lincoln. Names, dates, places he visited, worked, spoke, lived were all familiar to Josh. He loved his family and was particularly close to his mother. Anyone he knew Joshua, knew that when his Mother passed a part of him went as well. He would often remark how he couldn’t wait to get to Heaven to see her again and be with the Lord. He loved church and attended many over the course of his life. The past year he had found a church family that he loved very much and attended regularly. Joshua was blessed with a gift of prophetic dreams. Often telling me of dreams he had and I would find myself days later in the middle of a situation that he had dreamt about days earlier. It could be unnerving but it was a gift from God and he had it. Anyone that knew him knew that he was friendly, loving, caring and very tender hearted. He lived a simple life and was well satisfied with what the Lord had provided him with. He was generous to a fault and had a wonderful sense of humor .Joshua was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers; Thomas Johnson of Danville, Timothy Elliott of Danville who has a surviving spouse, Mary Carpenter. He is survived by brothers; Samuel Johnson of Cayuga, Indiana, David (Tina Brewer) Johnson of Danville,  sisters; Rebecca Johnson- Anderson of Danville who’s husband; Terry Anderson preceded her in death ,  Ruthie Taylor of Danville, Kari Dunmars of Houston, Texas. One brother was lost to adoption and we are not aware of his name or location. He had a great many nieces and nephews and was a loving Uncle to them all. He had an especially close relationship with nephew Joseph Elliott of Danville, whom he is close to in age and was raised along with much like a brother when young. Joshua was in a loving relationship with Marsha Malivuk and they planned to marry at a later time. She survives as well. Joshua has gone on as we all will but he will never be forgotten. He was a unique individual who never knew a stranger and was expert in the art of conversation. A service celebrating his life will be Saturday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Family Church at Holiday Hills 1700 N. Bowman Avenue. The Rev.Rob Susman will preside. Interment will be at a later time at Greenwood Cemetery. He will be placed along with his parents per his request.
