Kenneth Wayne McCoy

February 20, 1952 - April 28, 2024

Kenneth Wayne McCoy, known fondly as Kenny, peacefully departed from this world on April 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72 years old and was born in Danville, IL at Lakeview Hospital on February 20th, 1952. He was raised in Fair Oaks until the age of 16 spending the remainder of his life in Danville, Illinois. He worked various jobs until he started working for the Danville  School District 118 in his early 20s, to which he stayed as maintenance man for 22 years.

Kenny left behind his loving wife and soulmate, Lynnette McCoy, with whom he shared 8 children and 16 grandchildren with a lifetime of adventures and treasured memories. Together, they raised a beautiful family. With Kenny leaving behind a legacy of love. In his role as a father, Kenny was a pillar of strength and guidance to his 9 children: Kenneth Wayne McCoy Jr., Jessica Wilderman, Ryan McCoy, AJ McCoy, Tyler McCoy, Chelsea Phillips, Jordan McCoy, Shelby McCoy, and Lucas McCoy. His guidance, wisdom, and support shaped the lives of his children, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

Kenny not only left a mark on his children's heart but also the hearts of his children’s spouses: Bianca McCoy, Cody Phillips, April Grayson, Dusty Belansky, Rachel McCoy, Jacob Wilderman and Bethany Strawser became parts of Kenny's extended family, sharing in his love for his children and grandchildren, further enriching his family's bond.

The joy of Kenny's life extended to his 16 grandchildren: Elijah Hensler, Jonae Hensler, Wyatt VanEtta, Kylie McCoy, Nevaeh McCoy, Noah McCoy,  Madalyn McCoy, Wesley McCoy, Damian Phillips, Lilly Phillips, Gage Phillips, John Phillips, Boston Phillips, Samuel McCoy, Sawyer McCoy, and Brayden Belansky. He loved the company of his grandchildren. He celebrated their achievements, and cherished every moment spent in their company.

Kenny's wide circle of friends, Brad Wheeler, Tyree Davis and Steve Andrews, were not just companions but family, sharing in his passions and adventures, and providing endless laughter and camaraderie. His friends stood by Kenny through thick and thin, offering support, and laughter that enriched his life.

A man of varied interests and passions, Kenny found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life including spending time with his family on car rides, or watching his favorite movies like classic westerns. Sometimes he would hunt for hidden treasures in antique stores and tell stories about where they came from. He also enjoyed trips fishing at Lake Mingo, Hot Rods, and listening to his favorite classic rock station while eating a hamburger and chocolate shake. Kenny embraced each moment with a contagious enthusiasm that endeared him to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his  parents, Alva McCoy and Judith McCoy and a beloved brother, Jerry McCoy. As we bid farewell to Kenny, let us remember the laughter he brought, the love he shared, and the memories he created. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace, dear Kenny. Your love and spirit will forever guide us through the days ahead, and your memory will be cherished eternally.
