Kevin L. Decker

Kevin Decker, 61, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on November 19, 2025. He was born on September 6, 1964, in Danville to Larry Lee Decker, Sr. and Margo Elizabeth (Lee) Decker.

Kevin grew up in Danville and attended Northeast Elementary, East Park, and Danville High School. In his younger years he was a gifted athlete, playing football, baseball, and basketball. He was known for his toughness and determination—family still remembers the time he broke his foot during a football game and finished the game anyway. Those who watched him play never forgot his competitive spirit. Kevin later worked as a car salesman, a job he genuinely enjoyed and excelled at. He had a natural way with people—easy to get along with, friendly, and able to make conversation with just about anyone. He was generous by nature and known to help others whenever he could. Outside of work, Kevin enjoyed simple things that brought him peace and pleasure. He loved fishing, doing yard work, listening to hard rock music, and spending time relaxing in his man cave. Back in the day, he especially loved hosting cookouts, grilling out for friends and family, and making sure everyone had a good time.

Kevin is survived by his sisters, Misty Decker Harden and Lorrie Decker Olsen; his children, Tawny Decker Powell, Rebecca Huff, Alexis Watkins, and Abby Decker; and his grandchildren, including Tawny’s son Jackson and Alexis’s newborn daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry Decker Jr., and his niece, Lacy Marie (Fox) Nelson.

In the last conversations he shared with family, Kevin expressed a desire to grow closer to God, a comfort to those who loved him.

His family holds many memories that will be cherished. His nephew Jeremy remembers him as funny, always trying to make others laugh, and living every day like it was a party. His nephew Larry Decker III remembers the fun he brought to Thanksgiving and Christmas when they were young. These snapshots of who Kevin was—kind, humorous, and full of life—will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church gymnasium, 1632 Georgetown Road, Tilton, IL 61833 from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025.
