Larry Gray Obituary

Larry E Gray, 79, of Danville, passed away at home on June 14, 2024. He was born on November 21, 1944 in Danville to Albert L and Mary F (Swisher) Gray.

Larry was married to Elda (Lovingfoss) for several years.  They adopted Ashley, who became the mother of his grandchildren, Donovan and Ashton.

He is survived by his brothers Ronald (Vickie), Kenneth (Penny Wells) and Jon (Elena) of Danville.  Also surviving are sisters Linda (Wayne) Miller, of Hudson, FL and Marilyn (Jack) Crawford of West Lebanon, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Terry, a sister, Connie , and brother-in-law Jack Crawford.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, his friend Ramona Owens, good friends Jim Brown and Les Moulten, and special nephew Cory Bridgman with whom he was more than an uncle and more like a father and mentor.

He retired from Bohn with more than 40 years of employment.  He was a member of the Illiana Skydivers, where he earned the nickname "Crazy Larry".  Skydiving was his passion.  He had well over 4,000 jumps from perfectly good airplanes.  Additionally, he was involved with the American Legion, Post 210, serving in various positions with that organization.  He served in the US Army, spending the majority of his time in Korea, close to the 38th Parallel.

Burial services will be at the VA on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. following cremation.  Military honors will be provided by American Legion, Post 210.  Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory is handling arrangements.
