Larry Hunt Obituary

Larry Wayne Hunt, 68, of Danville, IL passed away July 9, 2025, at Carle Hospital in Urbana. He was born August 17, 1956, in Flint, MI to Roy James and Leona Faye (Short) Hunt.

Larry worked for Care Muffler and Brake Shop for 20 years. As a retired Marine veteran, Larry was proud of his service to his country. He enjoyed being in the great outdoors, and having a green thumb, his garden was something he was very proud of. Riding his motorcycle and smoking meat on his grill was another love of his, but the one thing he loved the most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He married his wife, Joy, on September 30, 2000, and they spent 25 loving years together.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, and aunts, Betty and Patty.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Joy Hunt; sons, Chris (Keri) Hunt of Lumberton, TX, Jason (Roni) Hunt of Rising Fawn, GA, Brad (Tisha) Shaw of Georgetown, IL, and Billy Taylor of Effingham, IL; daughters, Tiffany (Cody) Perez of Georgetown, IL, Amy (Rick) Tarmmel of Salem, IL, Heidi (Jerome) Williams of St. Louis, MO, Holly (Ben) Dittmar of Danville, IL, and Stephanie (Jason) Johnson of Danville, IL; brothers, Jim (Denise) Hunt of Patomac, IL, Paul (Rhonda) Hunt of Fithean, IL, Harold (Martha) Hunt of Rossville, IL, Mike (Marvelene) Hunt of Gainsville, FL, and Ray (Latina) Hunt of Bismark, IL; 31 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 7 nieces; 10 nephews; and 2 beloved canine companions, Larry Wayne and Tabby.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Alvin Church of God, 109 South St. Alvin, IL 61811. Immediately following the funeral service the Marine Corps and VFW, Local 210 will be honoring Larry’s dedication and service to our country with a 21-gun salute, playing of Taps, and flag presentation.

Larry’s memory will live on through those who loved him.
