Larry E. Lovett

Larry E. Lovett fell asleep in death on Sunday, October 12, 2025. He was 65 years of age. He was born February 3, 1960, to the late Edward and Susan Lovett. From day one, Larry’s life was full of love for the outdoors, art and adventure. He was usually outside doing something: hiking, fishing, mushrooming, throwing tomahawks, hunting, cooking over the fire and sitting next to the fire sharing stories. He strove to never leave a stone unturned. Larry’s childhood started off with a lot of playing in the woods, setting up camps, fishing with his Grandpa Jess, and being a big brother to Lavana. Larry learned a lot of skills from a young age. He grew up in a family that owned a concrete & construction company, Lovett’s Construction. Some of his strongest skills came from being raised in a home that strove to live by Bible principles. This is what led Larry to make a personal decision to dedicate his life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1975. At 18 years of age Larry decided to push a wheelbarrow with mortar and bricks in it from Georgetown to Catlin. He even took the extra step of carrying a bottle of water with him to keep the mortar wet, a true contractor son’s knowledge. While this endeavor made the local newspaper, Larry just did it to prove it could be done. What Larry could not have known at that time is just how those qualities would carry with him through his life. In 1979 he married Wendy A. Hoskins. Larry and Wendy have 2 daughters, Chrisi and Stephi. While working on a construction job, there was an accident that caused Larry to fall off a 2nd story ladder and break his back. But this didn’t stop Larry. He sought out the opportunity to pursue a new career in engraving. After attending an engraving school in Trinidad, California Larry returned to Illinois with a new mastered skill of engraving on many types of items. He started the business of Precision Engraving that operated for many years and gave him more opportunities for adventures and stories. This endeavor led Larry & his family to move to Arizona. He set up an engraving shop in Tombstone, AZ, the first engraving shop that had been in Tombstone since Wyatt Earp’s time, something that Larry took much pride in. After a few years Larry, his family and his business moved back to Illinois. 

Larry started volunteering his time at the Georgetown Fire Protection District, and eventually the Georgetown Historical Society, and Vermilion County Historical Society. On June 12, 2004 Larry married Kimberly Rose Tillotson Burr Lovett. While Kim already had 3 beautiful daughters, Larry stepped right in and helped raise them as a father. This is something Jordan, Jade & Jasmin truly value. Larry’s love for the outdoors, adventure and creation never stopped, with Kim by his side. 

A phrase that Larry & Kim often uttered to one another was “Always & Forever”. It was in recent years when Larry’s health started declining more, his qualities of perseverance and persistence especially helped. With encouragement, he kept going as if proving that same point with the wheelbarrow: that it could be done. Larry was always grateful for the opportunity to talk with people about his faith and hope in God’s Kingdom. He also enjoyed sharing his hope in God’s Kingdom. Larry knew the Kingdom that Jesus taught about is a reality, it will solve the problems such as sickness and restore the earth to its former beauty again. Larry especially looked forward to the time when his loved ones who have died will be awakened and resurrected back to earth so that he can spend time in the great outdoors with them again. Now Larry’s family looks forward to that same hope soon to be enjoyed with Larry. Still surviving: his wife, Kimberly Rose Lovett, sister, Lavana (Randy Hawkins), his daughters, Christina (Josh Hires) and Stephanie Deutsch, stepdaughters, Jordan Burr (Zach Mahoney-Pratt), Jade(Terrence Dillard), Jasmin (David Hutson), and 7 beautiful grandchildren, Nevaeh, Lexi, Zendaya, Victoria, Veronica, Makai and Koda.
