Larry Michael Welch, 73, of Fairmount, IL, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side on March 19, 2026. He was born on September 10, 1952, in Long Beach, California to his parents, John Welch and Lura (Griffin) Cain.
Larry was a proud veteran, serving his county in the Marine Corps. After his time in the military, Larry worked for a short time at a candy factory where he laid eyes on Helen, and they were married shortly after. Before retiring, Larry worked as a Journeyman Machinist at General Motors in Tilton, IL and Hyster Co. in Danville, IL. He enjoyed working in his wood shop completing several projects, his favorite was making bird houses and stars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Welch and Lura Cain; brother, Lonald “Lonnie” Welch; and sister-in-laws, Kathleen and Gail Welch.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Helen Welch; son, Larry Michael (Ashley Harper) Welch II; stepsons, Shawn (Ashley) Lee and Andrew Lee; daughter, Susanne Johnson Beever; brother, John Welch; stepsisters, Denice Gould and Kenice Sayre; sister-in-law, Brenda Welch; grandchildren, Elisha Lee, Amy Lee, Mason Lee, Carli Lee, Sophia Lee, Andrew Lee, Thomas Welch, Taylor Welch and Amelia Arends; and 3 great grandchildren.
Larry will be laid to rest with military honors on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in Danville National Cemetery, 1900 E. Main St. Danville, IL.
