Linda Lou (Adams) Carter

Linda L. Carter passed away at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center on the evening of April 15, 2025 at approximately 5:40 p.m. She was born on October 16, 1939, to Gwendolyn (Adams) Hardy and Sam Adams. She was married to William (Bob) R. Carter, and together they had a son, Mark Carter. She was preceded in her death by her husband and her son.

Linda is survived by 2 grandsons, Mark and Brad Carter of Dana Indiana; 7 great grandchildren, Ryan (Carter) Ross, Shianne (Carter) Stingley, and Jordan Carter of Danville Illinois, Kaden Carter, Gabriel Carter, and Genola Carter of Dana Indiana, and Katelyn (Carter) De La Garza of Pensacola Florida; and 7 great-great grandchildren, Alana Carter, Amelia Carter, Liam Stingley, Oaklynn Stingley, and Lydia Carter of Danville Illinois; Finnian De La Garza and Camden De La Garza of Pensacola Florida.

Linda had a wonderful personality; she would always chuckle and reply “I’m still wondering” whenever someone would hear her name and make a comment about the famous Linda Carter or call her Wonder Woman. She had a few different careers throughout her life, some of which include being the first female bus driver in Danville, barber/shop owner alongside her husband, and Purolator driver when she lived in Texas. Linda’s husband, Bob, was a lifelong musician and his music was always part of their life. She traveled the country with Bob and the band for a few years, and when they settled back down in Danville he continued to play with a band in local places like Hooligans (Lupitas), The Moose Lodge (Exit 210 Saloon), Rolling Hills Campground every July 4th, and others. She spent her final years at Bowman Estates Assisted Living of Danville where she made many friends, and then her final months at Accolade of Danville.

Linda expressed to her family on several occasions that it was her wish to not have a service, her family is honoring her final wishes. She will be cremated at Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory of Tilton. Online condolences: www.rortvedtfuneralservices.com.
