Louise Whiteman, 98, of Georgetown passed away peacefully at her home on May 3, 2026. She was born on June 13, 1927, in South Bend, IN, to Dickerson and Pearl Grimes. She was the baby of a family of 12 children.
Louise graduated high school in 1945 and shortly after married Robert Whiteman on January 14, 1950. Shortly thereafter she left her small farm home and moved with Robert to Japan where he was stationed. They spent a little over a year in Japan, where she was raising her two boys, Jim and Carl, and upon returning to the states they had a third child, Sherrill. Louise loved being a mom and is remembered as a loving and devoted mother to all 3 of her children. She was always the mom who allowed her children to have their friends over at her home so they could be under her watchful eye. Louise enjoyed her gardening and always had pretty flowers growing in her garden as well as tomato plants.
Later in life Louise spent her time in Spokane, WA, with her son, Carl, where she retired from ringing the Christmas bell because it was getting too cold for her to be outside for extended periods of time. She rode in a hot air balloon in California and most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked to watch NCIS and would jokingly say, “Mark Harmon is my boyfriend.” Louise went on to move in with her daughter near the end of her life and her grandson, Donnie, and canine companion, Cali, selflessly cared for her until the end. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Dickerson and Pearl Grimes; all 11 of her siblings; her son, Jim Whiteman; and son in law, Don Sherman II.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherrill Sherman; son, Carl Whiteman; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
“Hugs and kisses mom, you will be missed.”
