Margaret Artman of Sidell, passed away on August 29, 2020 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville, Illinois. Margaret was born October 6, 1928 in Catlin, Illinois to the late Frank Clinton Lamb and Dorothy Eulalah (Johnson) Lamb. Margaret was married to Paul Artman on March 8, 1946 in Danville, Illinois. They were married for 58 years and had 3 children.
Margaret worked 20 years for General Electric in Danville, Illinois, but her true passion was writing. She was a prolific freelance writer with a Fiction Course diploma from Famous Writers School. She was a columnist for the Georgetown Independent News and the Sidell Reporter and contributed to numerous magazines. She also wrote two books, Mustard Valley in
2007 and Return to Mustard Valley in 2019. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Paris, Illinois.
Her hobbies were gardening, quilting, reading and nature, especially birding.
The family celebrates and gives thanks to God for the gift of her life.
She is survived by her 3 children, Linda Sue (Eric) Sprouls of Wadesville, IN, Sandra Kay (Michael) Walden of Trenton, Missouri and Michael Charles Artman of Sidell, Illinois, 5 grandchildren, Troy (Shelley) Walden of Liberty, Missouri, Heather (Ian) Brady of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Amy (Marvin) Millsap of Platte City, Missouri, Steven Sprouls of Mt. Vernon, Indiana and Katie (Sean Chappell) Sprouls of Avondale, Arizona, nine great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul on March 24, 2004 and her three brothers, Ralph, William, and Archie and one sister Mildred.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at 10:30 AM on September 2, 2020 at the Fairview Cemetery near Sidell. Carrington Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.rortvedtfuneralservices.com.
