Mary Romo Obituary

Danville - Mary Romo passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday October 24th, 2021. Mary was born on December 25th, 1953 in Lampasas, Texas to Pedro and Lupe Jass. She married Alfonso Romo Jr. on January 7th, 1974, making him her husband of 47 years. Mary was a very strong-willed and kind-hearted woman who worked as a caregiver for well over 30 years. She loved what she did and loved forming bonds with her clientele. She was always there for everyone around her, especially her family as she was a very family-oriented person. No matter the cost, she would always do anything to help her family through anything and everything. She loved spending time with them all, especially her grandchildren because she loved being their “Nana” and always stayed active with them right up until she was no longer able to. She also loved her three dogs, Bullet, Balto, and Leeto. She loved reading (particularly Lee Child), playing games, listening to her Bon Jovi and The Beatles (and also Christian music), and especially sewing and creating different things for her family to wear.

Mary is survived by her children, Alfonso Romo III, Gera Romo, and Jessica Romo; her grandchildren, Adrian (Bethany) Romo, Levi Romo, Jordan Romo, Izaih Smith, and Destiny Smith; her great grandchildren, Ayda Romo, Iris Romo, Jordan Romo Jr., and Ollyver Romo; her siblings, Pablo Jass, John (Connie) Jass, Lidia (Amos) Medina, and Michael Jass; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in her passing by her husband, Alfonso Romo Jr., her parents, Pedro and Lupe Jass; and her brothers, Pedro Jr., Santos, Francisco, and Manuel. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Vermilion Valley Vineyard Church, 3733 Poolside Drive, Danville, IL 61832 with Pastor Jay Sorrell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Online condolences: www.rortvedtfuneralservices.com.
