Melinda Janelle Jones

West Lafayette, IN - Melinda Janelle Jones, 41, of West Lafayette, IN, met her Savior on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:44 PM EST,  at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN, from complications after recent surgery.  Melinda (Lindy) was a very beloved momma, best friend to her sister, daughter, and favorite aunt.  
Melinda was born in Danville, IL on Sunday, January 16, 1983, the first child of Hugh E. and Suzanna (Pierce) Jones of Metcalf, IL, who survive.  Also surviving are her two children, Mason Michelin of Georgetown, IL and Olivia Jones of Lafayette, IN; sister Courtney (Edward III) Sayre in Chalmette, LA; niece Gabriella, nephews Zacheriah and Edward IV; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.  She was a 2001 graduate of Jamaica High School and attended Sparks College in Shelbyville, IL.  She was an employee of Arby's and McDonald's and most recently worked from home.
Melinda is preceded by grandparents, Charles & Maxine Jones and Fredrick & MaryJo Pierce, uncles Ronald & Roger Jones, aunt Jennifer Reed, infant nephews Blaze and Artie, special family friends Charles & Marilyn Allen, and best friend Angel Marrow.  
She was happiest when caring for her children, attending softball games and special school activities, singing, swimming, shopping, vacationing with her children, going to movies, talking on the phone (FaceTime) and was up for a road trip at any time.  She loved holidays and was an excellent cook - especially when she used a recipe involving her crockpot and made her killer Deviled Eggs.  Her chicken and noodles were her dad's favorite at Thanksgiving.      
Visitation is set for Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church, 501 S. Main St., Georgetown, IL 61846 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM CST with a Memorial Service to be set for another date in the future.  Rortvedt Funeral Services in Tilton is assisting the family with arrangements.
