Michael Claypool Obituary

Mike W. Claypool, 71, of Tilton, went to be with the Lord from home surrounded by family. He is the son of Paul and Mary Lucille (Boyd) Claypool and was born on May 5, 1949 in Danville, Illinois.

Mike served in the United States Navy from 1973-1975 and was proud to serve his country. He was a Seabee and received a National Defense Service Medal.

He was a flooring installer for 45 years then later worked in security. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards with his buddies. Most of all, he loved being with family, especially his grandchildren. He was their giant teddy bear and their biggest supporter. Mike never met a stranger and would help anyone in need.

He leaves behind his spouse of 26 years, Lori Lawrence, two sons; Michael (Jenny) Claypool and Caleb (Jessica) Claypool, a daughter; Kerri (Kevin) Lawrence, one brother; Gordon (Tina) Claypool, three sisters; Cheryl (Jim) Palmer, Jamie Claypool and Kelly Claypool, four grandchildren; Michael Thomas, Lexia Claypool, Johnathan Leek and Mason Leek, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, an older sister; Paula, four children; Lee, April and infant twins; Jacob and Justin, also two long time friends John Wheeler and Chuck Hagan.

There will be a graveside service for family only and everyone must wear a mask. Due to covid we are limited to a very small gathering. There might be a lifetime celebration in the near future for all his friends. The family will keep all informed.

“Mike, You are so loved and missed, you were ‘One hell of a man’ and the best of me.” - Lori
