As written by Mike's brother, Scott:
Mike was born April 29, 1954. He is survived by 2 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers, a sister, 4 nephews and one niece and my 2 grandbabies who he was very fond of. Mike was a good brother but more like a father to me. Mike raised me when mom and dad died. Mike will be missed by many sports enthusiast and his family. He passed away at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Peoria September 28, 2019
Mike was a hero to me and many others. He sacrificed having a real-life to take care of me. He loved Tony Cole, Liz Cole and Todd Dowers and my wife Sandy Dowers very much. They were all he talked about. I was not the best father or husband but it was Mike who guided me in being the best father and husband I could be. Mike was there for me during my divorce and all my breakups and dark times. He was a men’s and women's softball coach and respected and loved by all. He loved to go to the Saltfork games, not just not to watch the game but to be with friends like Dan Hageman. He was also like a father to many of my friends and did his best to keep us all out of trouble. Mike could have walked away at any time dealing with me and GOD knows I gave him enough reasons to do so, but he never gave up on me. Mike sacrificed so much so I could live and grow up and have a life. He will always be remembered and loved.
