Michael Hires

On June 19, 2026, Michael E. Hires of Cayuga, IN passed away in death at The Waters nursing home in Covington, IN.  

Michael was born April 25, 1950, to Francis Luther Hires and Demetrula Harriet Louise Karakachos Hires in Danville, IL.  Michael had 3 siblings, Trudy Jinkins (deceased), John (Alice) Hires, and Peter Hires.

On August 2, 1968, Michael married Theresa Dickerson in Danville, IL. For years, Michael worked hard as a concrete finisher for himself and for the Local Union #143.  Even though that was his main job, Michael could do just about anything; from fixing things around the house to repairing any kind of machinery. He enjoyed tinkering on things in his shop, hunting and fishing.

One of the most important decisions he made was when he dedicated his life to serving his God as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the year of 1962. This gave him a firm grip on his hope for the future.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Theresa; one son, Joshua (Chrisi) Hires of Ridge Farm; his two siblings; two nephews, Francis (Angela) Hires and Ivan Hires; a niece, Mandy Jinkins; and many other close family members.

We also would like to thank The Waters nursing home staff and Heart to Heart Hospice Care for taking care of Michael.
