Michael Lee Vermillion

Michael Lee Vermillion, 51, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on October 15, 2025, as the result of an accident near Georgetown, Illinois.

Mike was born in Rantoul, Illinois on March 1, 1974, the son of Gary Lee Vermillion and the late Mary Jo (Aldridge) Nelson. As a child, he lived in Illinois, Texas, and Missouri and attended public schools in those states. Mike had held several positions around the Danville area during his time here.

He was known for his stubborn streak, and his determination to keep moving forward, no matter what life threw his way. He exemplified a spirit that refused to fade: bold, stubborn, and full of heart. He did nothing halfway.

Though he faced more than his share of hardships, Mike never stopped trying to make things better, for himself and for the people he loved. In recent years, he had been rebuilding his life with steady effort and hope, finding joy in simple things, pride in the progress he was making, and in his family, and comfort in his faith. Mike refused to let himself be held back by challenges and instead faced the world with an unwavering love and dedication to finding meaning in everything.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Vermillion; stepchildren, Dakota McCrone, Brandon, and Donnie Boyer; his two children, Haylie and Lestat Vermillion, all of Danville, Illinois; sister, Kayleigh (Colin) Stratton, and their children, Ella, Alexavier, Elliot, and Benedict, all of Quincy, Illinois.

He was followed in death by his sister, Patricia Hood, who passed away following the same accident.
